To apply for a Colombian Transit visa, you will need to follow these steps:
1. Determine if you are eligible:
To qualify for a transit visa in Colombia, you will need to have a flight leaving Colombia within 24 hours and you will not be permitted to leave the airport.
2. Gather the necessary documents:
You will need to provide the following documents when you apply for your retirement visa:
- A valid passport
- A 3x4 passport-style photo
- Ticket entering and exiting the country within 24 hours
- Proof of ability, or visa, to the country you're entering after stopping in Colombia
3. Submit your application:
You can submit your application at the Cancillería's website.
4. Wait for the visa to be processed:
The processing time for a retirement visa can vary, but you should receive a response to your application within 30 days.
If you do not have a passport from a visa exempt country, you will need a transit visa to have a layover in Colombia.
The Colombian government entity can take up to 30 days to respond to your visa application. Therefore, we recommend you apply for the visa 30-60 days before your trip.
